Mimosa Blossom Time

cicada chorus
July's music begins again
ascend recede pause
under mimosa
fragrance sweetens gray oak leaves
on a fallen branch
weeds in paving stones
fallen mimosa flower
a dragonfly wing
weeding garden path
roly-poly ambles off,
worm writhes, snail pauses
tiny mimosa
in a shallow bonsai pot
shoots up a tall stem
green fronds curve below
brown wands stab all directions
lily blooms long gone
perched near their nest
tiny-winged fledgling sparrows
incessantly cheep
I perch on porch swing
dove nests in hanging fern pot
companionably
night in the garden
moisture saturates hot air
flashing of fireflies
